Christmas time is the most beautiful time of the year. It’s the time of year our family gathers in warm flannel shirts around the woodstove to celebrate and thank God for what He has done. My Puerto Rican mother-in-law makes arroz-con-pollo, we each receive a gift from our Secret Christmas Buddy, and we spend a lovely day together.
Advent calendars were never part of my family’s traditions growing up, but as I grow older I run into more and more friends who use them in their homes.
This Baby Gender Reveal or Baby Announcement idea gives your family a way to announce the exciting news using something that may already be a part of your household traditions this Christmas.
Instructions
1. First, buy or create an advent calendar. For DIY advent calendar ideas, check out our friends over on Pinterest.
2. Second, fill most of the calendar with candy or other treats. Leave the box for Christmas Eve empty.
3. If you are doing a gender-reveal, fill the Christmas Eve box with “It’s a boy!” or “It’s a girl!” Hershey’s kisses.
4. If you are doing a baby announcement, put a folded up copy of your ultrasound picture in the box.
5. Have your family members open a box a day until Christmas Eve, and videotape the reactions!
